Besides the order of application, it is very important to consider the time it will take for your skin to absorb your products. Usually, most of us are always in a rush to get somewhere forgetting that we need to keep our skin routine. You should give a pause in each product before the next step in order to enhance proper absorption. You also need to listen to your skin because everybody is unique and skin reacts in different ways for different people.

Step-by-step guide to a daytime skincare routine

The morning will always be protected from the sun, pollution, and other elements. Therefore, treatment products like retinol should be left for nighttime.

Step 1: Cleanser

In the morning, begin with splashing some water on your face or you can gently wash with a face cleanser that is designed for your skin type. There are many different types of cleansers like oil, cream, balm, foam. It’s best to experiment and see which type your skin best responds to.

Step 2: Toner

Most people assume that toners are harsh and will irritate the skin making them skip this process. Toners can actually act as a delivering system for antioxidants, vitamin-B derivatives, and also act as toning acids. Each type of toner is always intended for a different skin issue and it’s important to use the right kind for your skin.

If you’ve lived without using a toner and your skin is healthy, then there is no need of using one. Toners originally were created to enhance the skin's pH after it has become too basic from harsh detergents.

Step 3: Antioxidant Serum

Usually, serums are super concentrated, nutrient-dense and they address a specific concern.  There are a variety of serums in the market but for daytime, it’s recommended to use antioxidant serums. They provide a wide range of benefits like neutralizing damages from environmental pollution or UV rays.

Step 4:  Eye cream

It’s best to start applying eye cream twice a day as early as your 20s. The eye cream maintains the health and plumpness of the eyelid skin thereby improving the skin quality in these areas. The eyelid skin will no longer lose laxity and maintain the desired smooth appearance.

Step 5: Moisturizer

Moisturizer helps you lock in much-needed hydration beneath the skin and should be applied with the skin is still damp. Proper moisturization prevents wrinkles and gives a youthful, dewy look.

Step 6: Sunscreen

This is an essential step to prevent premature aging and it works by blocking the UV rays from reaching and burning your skin.

A skincare routine does not have to be complicated and only needs to consist of a few essential items. Implementing a basic routine will allow you to maintain a youthful glow for years to come.
